Online travel web site: BrilliantTrips

This past April a new travel web site, BrilliantTrips, was launched. Conceived as a site for young adults who are looking to get more out of their vacation (volunteer, learn a language, take a cooking course, or independently tour places off the beaten path), BrilliantTrips offers a range of travel packages and independent travel options.

When Re:Vision was originally approached by Rich Whitaker to design the Brilliant Trips web site, we were thrilled to be a part of such an exciting challenge. As a start-up, Brilliant Trips needed a logo, branding, and a web site with impact. Dave and I worked directly with Rich to ensure a solution that met well-defined goals, and we worked hand-in-hand to bring the best mix of technology and design to Brilliant Trips marketing efforts.

The challenge of the BrilliantTrips web site was to develop a site that presented complex information and multiple access points in a simple, easy-to-use interface. The BrilliantTrips web site is a great example of the best of traditional and web 2.0 tools and ideas.

The great thing about working with BrilliantTrips is that because they offer such a unique and interesting travel product it really got our creativity flowing, which shows in the final design. And the feedback has been really positive!

More recently we designed the BrilliantTrips blog: Brilliant Tips, which provides travel advice and ideas and a forum for like-minded travelers.

The Little Red Hen 2.0

In support of Massachusetts Ballot Question 1 to eliminate the state income tax, Dave and I conceived and produced this politically incorrect animation. Posted the Friday before Election Day on youtube, we proudly got over 1,000 views and even landed on Michael Graham’s blog (The Natural Truth, 96.9 WTKK).

Unfortunately, the initiative lost by a landslide, but the worst part is that all the taxes opponents of the question claimed would happen if it passed are actually happening now anyway (higher property taxes, higher tolls, additional tax increases). Not to mention, our state government officials are being arrested, endicted, or subpoenaed every week…so clearly, another animation is on its way…stay tuned.

Looking for a little inspiration, or just want to get your hands on an old favorite? The Little Red Hen (Little Golden Book)
is a great book, and definately worth sharing with the children in your life. I really love the Golden Book version of this story, very old school.

Historic Hayfield Manor Website

Situated on the southern bank of the Rappahannock River in Virginia, the Hayfield Manor has a history dating back to the 1700s, and has provided shelter for many owners. From the Bataille family from the county of Essex in England and then the Taylors from Cumberland on the Scottish border of the UK to the Reinhold family more recently, the manor has a rich history. Over the past several years however, the vacant house had suffered the wrath of Mother Nature and vandalism. These two unfortunate forces had left the manor in a state of disrepair but since the house is a historic treasure to the local community, something had to be done to prevent further deterioration and vandalism.

Through the leadership and dedication of Aggregate Industries and the help of local craftspeople and college historians, the restoration of the manor was completed over a period of just 12 months.

A brand new web site, www.hayfield.manor.com, was developed to feature Hayfield Manor as Aggregate Industries flagship community engagement project. We were responsible for site design and development, and worked in partnership with the Aggregate Industries US Marketing and Communications team to see this project through from conception to launch.

Aggregate Industries US Website Redesign

Aggregate Industries US websiteThis past summer, the newly updated Aggregate Industries US website www.aggregate-us.com was launched.

Working in partnership with the US Marketing and Communications team and contracted programmers, we were responsible for the design, the gui, and the underlying site structure.

The biggest issue facing the redesign was how to develop a standard look and feel that could be applied across the companies many regions and product divisions. The final solution is a clean, open design, that can be customized to meet individual region needs.
